Escape commissioned by channel 4

A group of engineers will be challenged to escape from a variety of “catastrophic” crash sites in Channel 4’s latest factual entertainment order.

C4 has commissioned Maverick TV to produce Escape, a 5 x 60-minute series that will see a small group of skilled people stranded at a crash site, days from civilisation, in a hostile environment.

With rations running low, their only option is to build a new vehicle using what they can salvage from the debris and make their escape.

Inspired by real crashes, each episode will see four new cast members stranded in a different terrain from deserts and jungles to snow and water.

SAS: Who Dares Wins’ royal engineer Ant Middleton will front the series and offer insight into the mental and physical challenges ahead for the contributors.

Escape was commissioned by C4 head of popular factual Liam Humphreys and commissioning editor Danny Carvalho and will be executive produced by Maverick chief executive Simon Knight.

Humphreys said: “Escape is a thrilling new format and joins our stable of bold and large scale commissions. It will test the ingenuity and resolve of our contributors to the limit. They will need to leave no stone unturned if they are to successfully engineer a way out. ”

Channel 4 asked us to think big and risky and we came up with Escape: a distinctive format that’s going to be filled to the brim with action and drama. I can’t wait to see how they escape,” Knight added.

The show and the format will be distributed globally by Maverick owner All3Media International.
